Operations Manager

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $35.00 per hour

LifeWorks is seeking a dynamic and collaborative leader to manage a variety of agency operations. The ideal candidate will have strong leadership and organization skills, be a creative thinker and be knowledgeable about quality assurance/compliance, system development, implementation and evaluation.


The Operations Manager reports to the Executive Director and works collaboratively with the Clinical Director to manage contract requirements, ensure compliance with mental health, employment and workplace regulations, and maintain an agency culture focused on support, productivity and high-quality service delivery. The Operations Manager will supervise administrative staff which may include reception, office manager and administrative assistants.

This position will have three main focal areas:

  • Compliance - Serve as the agency’s Compliance Officer, ensuring adherence to MediCal, labor law, therapy contracts, HIPAA and other regulations. This involves the development, implementation and monitoring of policies and procedures in these areas.

  • Personnel - Manage systems related to personnel onboarding and exit including training on compliance and labor policies, exit interviews and completing employment related documentation.

  • Reporting - Create and maintain systems to track, compile and report demographic, output and outcomes data. Complete contract required reporting, sharing data for PR, funding and quality improvement.


  • Work closely with the Executive Director to maintain a healthy and productive work environment

  • Manage facility needs, certifications and inspections

  • Facilitate regular meetings with clinical and administrative staff

  • Remain informed of policies and regulations impacting the agency

  • Develop/update written policies and provide training and instruction to staff

  • Set compliance standards and utilize effective monitoring systems

  • Assist in onboarding and training new staff and managing the staff exit procedure

  • Manage HR duties including staff grievances, benefits registration and personnel requirements

  • Provide direct supervision to administrative staff

  • Manage agency outcomes and reporting including the completion of written reports and presenting data

  • Serve as the agency compliance officer both internally and with contract funders

  • Serve as a representative of LifeWorks in the community in a professional manner

  • Participate as a member of the leadership team and contribute to agency vision and planning


  • Experience working in a mental health setting

  • Two years of management experience

  • Experience leading and being a collaborative member of diverse teams


  • Experience with MediCal billing and/or compliance or willingness to learn

  • Experience in compliance or quality assurance management

  • Bachelor’s degree in a related field

  • Bilingual/bicultural candidates are encouraged to apply
